Our Principal's Message

Our principal Mrs. Dorsey

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the start of a new school year at Palm Lake Elementary! It has been a busy summer here preparing for the children and the events to come. We were pleased this summer to be awarded another A rating by the State of Florida. We are one of a few schools rated an A since the inception of the school grading system. It takes us all to achieve these wonderful results with our students and we could not accomplish all we do without you. This year our theme is "Building Our Future." We think it is appropriate considering all the construction we are preparing for this year.

I hope your family has had a fun, relaxing, and refreshing summer. As school approaches it would be good to have your young person begin to follow a school year schedule with appropriate bedtimes and wake-up times. His/her body will then be adjusted for the 8:45a.m. start of school on August 18th. Also, this is a good occasion to increase the time you are enjoying books together with your children so their minds will be sharp for the beginning of school.

We would like to invite you to attend Meet Your Teacher on Thursday, August 14th from 5:00 - 6:00p.m. In addition to meeting your teacher, you can join PTA and purchase a new Palm Lake T-shirt. Please join us for this exciting back-to-school experience. Registration for a limited number of Extended Day positions will also be available.

On the first day of school, we will be hosting our annual Boo-Hoo-Yippee Breakfast. After you drop your children off in their new classrooms at 8:45a.m., come by for a warm welcome along with helpful suggestions to make the year a success. You will have a great opportunity to become more acquainted with our school and other parents as you hear from the Principal, Guidance Counselor, Media Specialist and PTA President.

We look forward to a new year filled with adventures in learning. Your past support has made Palm Lake a premier school; let's keep up our great reputation as we continue to bring out the best in each child at Palm Lake.

Yours truly,

Carol Dorsey
