Dear Palm Lake Parent,

CANCER – it’s a nasty six letter word that has affected all of us in one way or another…perhaps you have a family member, friend, or colleague who has had their own battle with cancer. Now we have TWO Palm Lake family members – Placement Specialist Penny Brooke and Fourth Grade Teacher Kathy Heenan - who are fighting their own battles with this dreaded disease.

Thank you for your support so far. Even though the rummage sale has passed there are still ways to help.

  1. Cancer awareness bracelets are still available. Bracelets are in youth and adult sizes and will be $5 each. $4.25 from each bracelet will go directly to Kathy Heenan and Penny Brooke.

  2. Simply make a donation to Penny Brooke or Kathy Heenan. Please send it in to your child’s teacher or to the front office.

  3. Participate or support the Relay For Life on April 18 at Dr. Phillips High School. The Palm Lake team will be raising money for research to find a cure. More information is available at the American Cancer Society's website below.

If you are not able to help our Palm Lake family at this time, we hope that this letter has heightened your own awareness about this disease – and that you will seek more information to join the fight against cancer. Please visit the American Cancer Society’s home page at http://www.cancer.org. Thank you for your time and consideration.
