Our third grade curriculum includes the study of ancient civilizations, maps and globes, oceans, the interdependence of organisms and their environments, matter, simple machines, and weathering earth. Our focus in mathematics is multiplication, division, using many strategies for problem solving, and participating in the Sunshine Math Program. Third graders are concentrating on writing skills for language. Thinking maps help students organize their thoughts to achieve the goals of writing paragraphs, essays, and creative stories. Our field trips this year are to Medieval Times Theater and Village, Crealde School of Art, Orlando Science Center, Symphony, Disney's Wilderness Adventure, Poetry Alive, and Mead Garden's Environmental Education Center. In addition, third graders participate in the Veteran's Day celebration with a performance of Patriotic songs. |
